Paraiso del Oso (3*)
Hotel Paraiso del Oso offers the isolation of a wilderness mountain lodge yet is less than five kilometers from the town and mission of Cerocahui. Though secluded, the comfort of this three star accommodation brings its guests back year after year.
The hotel is mostly without electricity. Two of its twenty-one rooms as well as the office and kitchen are powered by solar energy with battery back-up while the remainder enjoy the warm glow of oil lamp lighting. With no need to run electrical lines and having its own water source, the hotel is virtually self sufficient.
The "Tiendita" store offers items from local artisans to Silver from Taxco or colorful artwork from Oaxaca. The lounge area by the bar or any of the porch chairs or hammocks invite the guests to sit back and enjoy the slower pace of life in the Sierras.
Recreational activities offered range from bird watching and hiking the adjoining trails to adventurous horseback riding tours. For the less adventurous, van tours to the rim or bottom of the Canyon Urique are also available.
